No man stands alone.

Over 500 individuals who have benefitted from the support of the MMHG community
Men’s Mental Health Group (MMHG) was founded in 2019 by Luke Brailsford following a moment that would change everything.
Sitting in a Costa Coffee in South Yorkshire, Luke had a conversation with a parent whose son had taken his own life.
That single conversation sparked a selfless journey — a determination to ensure that no man feels alone, and that there is always someone there to listen.
For three months, Luke turned up each week and sat alone.
No attendees. No conversations. Just belief.
Until one day, someone walked in.
That moment marked the beginning of Men’s Mental Health Group.
Supported since launching in 2019
Men have suffered with a mental health problem
Of men haven't spoken about their mental health
Men feel stressed or overwhelmed

Since then, more than 500 men have engaged with the group, with regular weekly meet-ups providing a safe and supportive space to talk, listen and connect. What started as a simple idea has grown into a powerful community built on trust, openness and shared experience.
Over time, MMHG has expanded its impact beyond weekly meetings. The group has organised activity days, group visits and shared experiences — including trips to London, sports events and community activities designed to bring people together in a positive environment.
The organisation has also supported wider causes, including delivering a homeless outreach programme across the region — providing food, warm bedding and support to those who needed it most.
As MMHG continues to grow, it has now transitioned into a Community Interest Company (CIC), creating a clear structure for governance, transparency and long-term sustainability.

MMHG has launched its first expansion into East Yorkshire, establishing a new group in Goole in partnership with the area’s professional rugby league club, the Vikings.
With the support of Starbucks, sessions combine relaxed conversation over a coffee with opportunities to take part in activity — including touch rugby and five-a-side football at the Vikings’ new home ground.
From one conversation to a growing movement, MMHG continues to do one simple but powerful thing:
Make sure no man has to face things alone.

Simply turn up to a session — no referral, no sign-up process, no pressure. You’ll be welcomed as you are.

MMHG South Yorkshire meets every Wednesday evening at Costa Coffee in Parkgate, Rotherham. MMHG East Yorkshire meet the last Wednesday of every month at Starbuck in Goole, followed by activities at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds.

Not at all. You can listen, chat, or just be there. There’s no expectation — everyone engages in their own way.

Most sessions are free. Occasionally there may be optional costs linked to activities, but we always aim to keep things accessible for everyone.
